Librarians in Canvas

A guide to collaborating with librarians within Canvas.

Adding Resources Through Collaboration

If you add a librarian to your Canvas course using the Librarian role, they should have permissions to create new pages, modules, and quizzes within your Canvas course.

To make sure content aligns with what your students need, please contact your librarian beforehand to discuss what you would like to have included. Options include but are not limited to:

  • Curated, annotated lists of  specific library resources
  • Tutorials, with the option to have certificates of completion
  • Quizzes over library research skills

Adding Resources Through "Send To"

If you would prefer not o give a librarian permission to edit your course directly, librarians can create resources such as assignments, modules, pages, or quizzes within their own instance of Canvas. They can then send them to you using the "Send To" feature. You will find these shared items in your account under Shared Content. You can preview them and import them into your course.
