A guide for locating resources relevant to assignments in CSD classes.

Finding Articles

Why use articles?

Articles are an excellent source for

  • Current information and news

  • Commentary and opinion

  • General and/or specific information

  • Scholarly research

Each article type has its strengths and weaknesses depending on your information need.

Articles are found by searching the library's article databases, searching under "Articles" in the library catalog, or using Google Scholar.

You can also search for articles in specific databases.

You can also search in Google Scholar to find articles. If you use Google Scholar, use the customized link so that the "Get it @ Bradley" links will appear in the results.  "Get it @ Bradley" links you to access the library for full-text access or to request the item through interlibrary loan.

You can also search directly in a journal or magazine for articles on your topic. Below is a list of recommended CSD journals in the library's collection.

Finding Books and eBooks

Why use books?

Books are excellent sources for:

  • Overview of a topic

  • Background information

  • History and chronology

  • In-depth coverage of a topic

The entire book does not need to be read to be used for research. Use the table of contents and index to find the pages most relevant to your research.

Find books and ebooks by searching the library catalog. You can also request books from other libraries to be sent to the Cullom-Davis Library for you to borrow. (More information about borrowing books from other libraries)

Finding Media (Audio, Visual, Images)

Find media on your topic using the library's media resouces.
