Teaching with OER

Educational practices that become possible when using OER are referred to as "open pedagogy" or "open-enabled pedagogy." The scope of open pedagogy has also expanded to include general practices that increase student agency and open-ness in teaching. 

Examples of projects that fall under the wide umbrella of open pedagogy include:

• Open Syllabus, a program that aggregates data from submitted syllabi to map frequently assigned texts
• ITW101 at Keene State College, wherein a class annotated bibliography project was released as a public Zotero library and Google Doc
• An Open Companion to Early British Literature - an open textbook crafted jointly by an instructor and students, who contributed introductions, test question banks, digital learning objects, and footnotes/annotations to accompany the texts. Their final essays are also included as samples.

Open pedagogy or open assignments aren't required as part of this grant. But I wanted to bring up this concept early on, so that if you're interested, you can consider the open pedagogy opportunities that your OER selections might work with.
